Every February the NG911 Institute hosts the Annual Honor Awards Reception where heroes and leaders in the 9-1-1 field are recognized and celebrated. Members of the Congressional NG9-1-1 Caucus and other Members of Congress and their staff, appointed federal officials and agency staff, members of the public safety community, public safety industry leaders, and members of the general public, are invited to attend.
9-1-1 Public Safety Professional
This award recognizes a 9-1-1 professional from the public sector for their leadership, professionalism, initiative, creativity, and diligence, in assisting a person reporting and/or experiencing an emergency situation or solving a critical 9-1-1 issue.
(Federal / State / Local)
This award recognizes the elected or appointed Federal, State, or Local Government Leader (including state 9-1-1 coordinators) that has displayed significant dedication and leadership in advancing the 9-1-1 system. Specific efforts to enable the deployment of NG9-1-1 systems will be considered. Note, with the exception of state 9-1-1 coordinators, public sector 9-1-1 professionals will not be considered in this category.
“Citizen in Action”
This award recognizes an individual of any age or group (more than one person) who demonstrated exceptional bravery and heroism to respond in a critical time using 9-1-1.
9-1-1 Industry Professional
This award recognizes a 9-1-1 industry professional for their leadership, professionalism, initiative, creativity, and diligence, in solving a critical 9-1-1 issue, with a particular emphasis on those whose efforts have advanced NG9-1-1.
Outstanding 9-1-1 Call Center/Program
This award recognizes a 9-1-1 call center for overall excellence in serving the public including the handling of emergency situations reported to 9-1-1 and the deployment and management of new technology. Also, this award recognizes a state or regional 9-1-1 program for excellence in serving the public including the handling of emergency situations and the deployment and management of new technology.
This award recognizes an individual, organization, company, media outlet, program, or any other effort(s) to coordinate and promote education and awareness for NG9-1-1, the appropriate use of the 9-1-1 system, or the transition to a Next Gen 9-1-1 system. It also may include person(s) involved in other areas such as press/media/entertainment that assist in promoting and improving the understanding of emergency communications.
During our 15th Annual Honor Awards Reception we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of 9-1-1. To help us with that celebration, the Institute is seeking your stories, or stories of others, that exemplify the importance of 9-1-1 and heroism of the 9-1-1 professionals serving local communities across the United States.
