NG911 INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES 2017 BOARD ELECTION RESULTS

Washington, DC – The Next Generation 911 Institute (NG911 Institute) is pleased to announce the results of its 2017 board election.  Current Board Member, Rebecca Murphy Thompson, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Competitive Carriers Association (CCA), was reelected in the Consumer Telco (Small Provider) category.  Newly elected members include:  D. Jeremy DeMar, Public Safety Emergency Communications Supervisor, Rochester Emergency Communications Department and Curtis Sutton, Executive Director, Tennessee Emergency Communications Board, in the Member-At-Large (Public Safety) category; Brian McNealy, Vice President, Sales, Comtech Telecommunications and April Heinze, Industry Affairs Specialist, INdigital, in the Vendor (Public Safety) category; and Neil Horden, Chief Consultant, Federal Engineering, Inc., in the Member-At-Large (General) category.  A complete list of board members is available at http://www.ng911institute.org/about-us#bod.

During the Institute’s October board meeting, current Board member Joe Marx, Assistant Vice President, Federal Regulatory, AT&T, was elected as Chair of the Board and Rebecca Murphy Thompson was elected as Vice Chair.

“The Institute is fortunate that it will continue to benefit from the vision and leadership of our existing board members and we are delighted to welcome five new board members whose varying experiences and expertise will add new perspectives and strengthen the leadership of the Board,” said Institute Executive Director Patrick Halley.

The NG911 Institute works with the Congressional Next Generation 911 Caucus to promote nationwide NG911 deployment through congressionally focused education and awareness efforts.  The NextGen 911 Caucus, co-chaired by Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Reps. John Shimkus (R-IL) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA) , is the only bipartisan, bicameral organization dedicated exclusively to NG911 issues and plays a unique role in raising the visibility of NG911 policy issues and funding needs.  During the past 13 years, the Institute has successfully raised awareness of 911 issues with members of Congress and their staff and created a platform to recognize the admirable efforts of public safety and 911 industry leaders.

NG911 Institute Announces 14th Annual 911 Honor Award Winners; Technology Showcase Agenda

Public safety, industry and government leaders to be recognized following a day-long Capitol Hill Technology Showcase    

 

Washington, DC - The Next Generation 911 Institute (NG911 Institute) is pleased to announce the winners of the 14th Annual 911 Honor Awards:

About the 911 Honor Awards Reception

The 911 Honor Awards reception is an annual event to honor 911 heroes and leaders.  The Co-Chairs of the Congressional Next Gen 911 Caucus (Reps. Shimkus and Eshoo and Senators Burr and Klobuchar) and other Members of Congress and federal government officials will join 911 leaders from across the country at the event.  This year’s awards reception will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the Foyer of the Rayburn House Office Building – presentation of awards to begin at 6:00pm.  For more information and to register, visit http://www.ng911institute.org/14th-annual-911-honor-awards-2017.

About the NG911 Technology Showcase

Prior to the reception, from 10:00am to 4:00pm in Room 2044/2045 of the Rayburn House Office Building, the Institute is hosting a day-long NG911 Technology Showcase.  The “Internet of Everything” promises to interconnect people, processes, data, and things in ways that will create new capabilities and opportunities for consumers, businesses, government agencies, and the public safety community.  The Technology Showcase will feature leading technologists and government leaders who will discuss developments in technology and NG911 systems that promise to fundamentally transform emergency response in America.   Following a keynote presentation from Cisco’s Ned Cabot and a presentation of state 911 leaders on the status of NG911 deployment in their states and across the country, technology presentations will be made by Comtech, Motorola Solutions, NextNav, OnStar, Verizon, and West Safety Services.  A complete agenda is available at http://www.ng911institute.org/tech-showcase-2017-2.

NG911 INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES 2016 BOARD ELECTION RESULTS

Washington, DC - The Next Generation 911 Institute (NG911 Institute) is pleased to announce the results of its 2016 board election. Current Board Chair, Mary Boyd of West Safety Systems, was reelected as a Member-at-large. Also reelected in the Consumer Telecommunications Company category were Angel Arocho, Comcast; Donald Brittingham, Verizon; and Joe Marx, AT&T. And joining the board as a newly elected Member-at-large is Lynn Shapiro Starr, Senior Director of Congressional and Corporate Affairs at Motorola Solutions.

“The Institute is fortunate that it will continue to benefit from the vision and leadership of our four returning board members and we are delighted to welcome Lynn Shapiro Starr who will add new perspectives and strengthen the leadership of a Board that already includes some of the brightest minds dedicated to modernizing the nation’s 911 system,” said Institute Executive Director Patrick Halley. Ms. Starr said, “I’m honored and excited to serve on the Board of Directors of the NG911 Institute. I look forward to helping advance the group’s mission critical goal of rapidly deploying NG911 technology.
